Most Beautiful Urdu Poetry Hindi Girija Kumar Mathur

Known for his translations of English songs, Girija Kumar Mathur was an eminent writer of Hindi literature. Born in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, Mathur was homeschooled by his father and received his primary education in Jhansi. After completing his education, he went on to earn an M.A. in English from Lucknow University and a L.L.B. from the University of Punjab. He practiced law for a few years and later worked with Doordarshan and All India Radio.

The poet's poetic works are a reflection of the society's changing conditions. He has depicted the everyday life of the common man and has made his works universal. "Patang" from Dunya Roz Banti Hai is a good example of his work. "Patang" is about a child's activities, and is one of the most popular poems written in Hindi.

Another poem, 'Mujhe Bhi Kab Jaamo-Suboo Dekha Tha', is a satire of love. It is a parody of the Hindi song "Bhut Khoya" - 'Bhut Khamo' means 'Bhut' in Urdu, and 'Aajad', 'door', and "ajad" are all examples of love poems.
